GREEN CAMPUS PROGRAMME

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

“Green Campus Programme enables schools and colleges to conserve natural resources like water and biodiversity, optimize energy efficiency, manage waste and educate about climate change and sustainability while addressing well-being of the students as compared to conventional educational institutes.”

Green Campus Programme (GCP) is a flagship program of the Climate Project Foundation. In our vision and mission of creating a sustainable tomorrow, GCP serves as an effective transformative catalyst. As the name suggests, the objective of the program is to transform the conventional campuses into green campuses. We believe that the climate crisis needs long-term and highly impactful solutions, and there is no better tool to resolve it than education. To inculcate the values and bring about behavioural changes in our future generations making them more planet-sensible, we are setting examples right there in the campuses through physical and behavioural changes.

HOW IT WORKS?

The first step in the Green Campus Programme is to educate teachers about the science, impacts, and solutions of climate change through a comprehensive one-day training program. This initial session will equip them with foundational knowledge and practical insights. Following this, teachers can enroll in an online program to deepen their understanding and assess their knowledge through interactive modules and assessments.

Additionally, they are provided with a rich array of online educational resources designed to bolster their confidence and competence in conveying the urgency of the climate crisis and its solutions to their students. These resources include lesson plans, multimedia tools, and interactive activities, ensuring teachers are well-prepared to inspire and educate the next generation on environmental stewardship.

Teachers Training Program

It is a half-day workshop on climate change,  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the six thematic areas of green campus.

Educational Resources

Teachers are provided with Online Teaching Resources like Posters, Infographics, Comics, Workbooks, and Booklets.

Online Program

Teachers are offered a free Online Certification course on climate change to learn more about the issue and in-hand solutions.

St. Teresa's Girls' H.S.School, Darjeeling

Since our school has been a part of the Green Campus Programme, we have been seeing positive changes in the school surrounding as well in the mindset of staff, students and guardians alike. The school Campus is greener, cleaner and more sustainable. Students are engaged in hands-on activities like gardening and maintaining Multi Resource Facilities for waste management, making eco bricks etc. Our school has also been able to engage other schools and community in carrying forward this mission. I am grateful to the School Green Campus Team for their endeavors.
