Dr. Vivek Trivedi is a Ph.D. in Social Work from Center for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Masters in Social Work (MSW) from Punjabi University, Patiala and, PG Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from IGNOU. He is a Climate Reality Fellow (2009), at the Asia Pacific Summit, in Melbourne, hosted by the Australian Conservation Foundation. Oxfam Australia, Community Aid Abroad and UNESCO selected him in International Youth Parliament (2004) and UNESCO ESD twin world conferences, 2014 respectively and nominated him as Drafting Committee Member for ESD Youth Statement incorporated in Nagoya Declaration 2014.
He has been awarded with Hindustan Times Brightest Young Climate Leadership Award 2010 by the British Council, New Delhi and conferred twice State Award in 2014 and 2020 by Chandigarh Administration on 65th Republic Day and 74th Independence Day 2020 for meritorious services in Social and Public Affairs. Also, he is an alumnus of Diplomacy Training Programme (DTP), University New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, Jeju International Training Center, UNITAR/CIFAL, Jeju, South Korea. His expertise are in Organizational Development & Strengthening, International Relations and Partnership Building, Advocacy, Programme Management and Administration, M&E and Capacity Building etc.
He founded Association of Professional Social Workers and Development Practitioners (APSWDP) in 2014; a think tank and is instrumental in getting Special Consultative Status under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN-ECOSOC), Accreditation and Observer Status under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He is a passionate author, global traveller and love of photography. Presently, he is working with Municipal Corporation Chandigarh as Social Development Officer in Development Cell.
