Glacial melting in the Himalayas poses threats of floods and landslides, while erratic weather patterns disrupt agriculture, the backbone of Nepal's economy. Shifts in precipitation patterns and temperatures affect crop yields, leading to reduced agricultural productivity and income for rural communities.
Moreover, the changing climate in Nepal is altering the dynamics of its fragile ecosystems, posing threats to biodiversity and freshwater resources. This has serious implications for both human and wildlife populations, as access to clean water becomes increasingly scarce, and habitats are disrupted. The vulnerability of marginalized communities, particularly those living in remote and mountainous regions, is further exacerbated by limited access to resources and infrastructure.

Climate Reality Leaders in Nepal are consistently dedicated to addressing climate change. Among them, certain Climate Reality Leaders have been particularly enthusiastic and effective in their efforts to mitigate the climate crisis. These leaders have been selected and appointed as National Coordinators, serving as flag bearers and experts in various fields. They also mentor other Climate Reality Leaders, guiding them with their experience and expertise.

World Environment Day celebrations
Marking the World Environment Day, a presentation on Climate Change: science, impacts and solutions was held at Lord Buddha Secondary School. The event was joined by 45 students of grade 8, 9, 10. The main objective of the program was to raise awareness and motivate students to act against the climate crisis.
The significant highlight of the event was the school's registration with the Green Campus Program, a flagship initiative under the Climate Reality Project South Asia, making it the first school in Nepal to join The Green Campus Programme. This programme aims to integrate sustainability into the educational environment, encouraging schools to adopt eco-friendly practices and educate students about environmental responsibility.

Climate Reality Leaders Meet
On 28th April 2024, a Climate Reality Leaders meet was organized in Nepal with the Director of The Climate Reality Project India & South Asia, Mr. Aditya Pundir. This event was an enriching experience aimed at bringing together trained Climate Reality Leaders from across Nepal, who come from diverse backgrounds and share a common interest in addressing the climate crisis. The meeting focused on South Asia's climate issues and ongoing adaptation programs, with a particular emphasis on the Green Campus Program.
Phurpa Lama, Nepal-Country Coordinator, welcomed Mr. Aditya Pundir, and the Climate Reality Leaders from Nepal. He highlighted the agenda Items, emphasizing their strategic importance. From the Green Campus Program to the importance of youth engagement in COP negotiations. Lama urged active participation from the Climate Reality Leaders for collective action. He urged active participation in the brainstorming session, inviting leaders to share their expertise and emphasized drafting an action plan moving forward, underscoring the urgency of the climate crisis.
Following this, Mr. Pundir delivered a comprehensive and engaging presentation on the impacts of climate change and potential solutions, specifically focusing on Nepal. He also discussed the headquarters' new strategy to achieve true net zero, outlining its four pillars. Mr. Pundir invited attendees to contribute suggestions on how they could support these strategic areas. The attending leaders displayed great enthusiasm for contributing to the strategic areas, leading to a constructive discussion.
